Your Excellency the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Vice-Patron, of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, I further observe the protocol list as enunciated by speakers before me, sisters and brothers, ladies and gentlemen all. It is indeed a privilege to be invited to express sincere gratitude and thanks on behalf of all the participating spouses, partners and accompanying persons. Let me begin by saying that experiencing the DUBAR was a memorable occasion of colour, pomp and ceremony and that we have all been enriched by the exposure to your rich cultural heritage, the impression was indeed indelible.
Our visit to your arts and craft village provided some of us with the opportunity to do what we do best, that is add value to economic activity and this I can assure you provided us with the opportunity to take back some tangible mementos of our visit here.
Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Senator Daisy Danjuma for her hospitality she can be called, the hostess Par Excellence. To Princess Ita Giwa, thank you for a wonderful evening and for ensuring that our wardrobes have been enhanced with a magnificent piece of Nigerian haute couture. Thank you very much for your generosity of spirit.
The looks of anticipation and the warmth with which we were greeted at the Abuja Orphanage will ever remain with us. We valued tremendously the opportunity to share with them and it is my hope that when we return to our respective countries we will seek out orphanages where we can have similar experiences.
In my five years of attending CPA conferences it is the first time that Social activities have been organized jointly for CWP members and visiting spouses we do appreciate the recognition of our role in supporting our spouses in their political pursuits. This was certainly a welcomed addition and I hope it remains as a CPA feature for future conferences.
To all dignitaries, organizers at all levels of the process, to our liaison and protocol officers, conference aids, security personnel, drivers, management and staff of our respective hotels, the villagers who welcomed us, members of the media, we say a special thanks, you were all magnificent and contributed greatly to the overall success of this conference.
You have by your contribution ensured that our memories of this conference are pleasant and long lasting.
To all participants heartfelt thanks for the comradree and friendships that we fostered amongst ourselves, we crossed ethnic backgrounds and cultures and have through our interaction advanced the principles of sisterhood and brotherhood within the human family.
In closing I ask that you our host forgive any breaches of cultural insensitivity that we may have committed. Let me assure you that it is not an indication of disrespect but more out of ignorance of your cultural norms, values and customs.
Ladies and Gentlemen, once again on behalf of all visiting spouses, accompanying persons and partners a big THANK YOU.
